OSU & meeting need

Can anyone comment on how well OSU does as far as meeting need?

@adkdad Wondering same thing. did the accepted student visit at OSU last week. Now just need to get the financial aid letter to see where we stand. I don’t know about you, but my S has only received the letter from one school so far.

My D has been accepted to a few…OSU and one other are at the top of her list and she is waiting on 4 more, but really only 1, maybe 2, of those would be in contention…

In my mind, the money could sway things significantly, since my sense is that there is a 3 way tie for her first choice.

@adkdad We are only a little ahead of you as S has received all his acceptances and merit notifications that he is likely to get from the schools. down to 3. Not sure how financial aid will impact but sure would be nice to know. Looking forward to coming to an end of this process.

OSU does not guarantee to meet need even for instate students. They do have a supplemental “scarlet & gray” grant for the lowest income students but even it doesn’t close the gap. Barring significant merit aid, you will have a significant financial gap whether you’re instate or out.

Since OSU overly emphasizes the date applications are received when awarding merit money, I am hoping that they apply similar rigor when it comes to allocating need-based aid using the date the FAFSA was submitted.

Makes sense to me!
