OSU, MSU or IUB?

Hey guys , I was wondering which one of these three is better in business,( especially in accounting) also considering the overall atmosphere and academics strength and other factors ? Thank you.
Barry
OSU= ohio state U
MSU= michigan state U

They are all pretty close...I'd choose whichever is the cheapest option for you.

USNWR Undergraduate Accounting:
1. University of Texas–Austin (McCombs)
2. U. of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign
3. Brigham Young Univ.–Provo (UT) (Marriott)
4. University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
5. University of Michigan–Ann Arbor
6. Univ. of Southern California (Marshall)
7. Indiana University–Bloomington (Kelley)
8. University of Notre Dame (IN)
9. Ohio State University–Columbus (Fisher)
10. U. of North Carolina–Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler)
11. University of Washington
12. New York University (Stern)
13. Michigan State University (Broad)
14. University of California–Berkeley (Haas)
15. University of Florida (Warrington)
16. University of Virginia (McIntire)
17. Univ. of Wisconsin–Madison
18. Arizona State University (Carey)
19. Texas A&M Univ.–College Station (Mays)
19. University of Georgia (Terry)
21. Pennsylvania State U.–University Park (Smeal)
21. Wake Forest University (NC) (Calloway)
23. Boston College (Carroll)
23. Northern Illinois University
25. Massachusetts Inst. of Technology (Sloan)
25. University of Arizona (Eller)

I think IU has the better overall business reputation. All are plenty good enough to get a good accting job. I'd pick by location and price as well as personal preferences.

They're pretty close. I think Business Week rated MSU's MBA program as higher and, sometimes, that's used as an indicator of the overall program. I'm just not keen on USN&WR. It's totally based on popularity with much less (if any for separate programs) based on any quantifiable stats. You won't go wrong with either one. I would say, having experienced 2 of the 3 undergrad atmospheres (MSU and OSU) plus what I've heard, I'd say, in rating the more undergrad academic atmospheres, from best to least, I'd go:

MSU
IU
OSU

... with MSU and IU being pretty close.

Thank you guys and Quincy can you tell me more about your experience in MSU and OSU? And you must have transferred to one of them, right? Was it easy to do so? And what about the students in these two colleges? I guess I might have to give up IUB since it doesn't seem to have much money. Thank you.

Actually Quincy, BW ranks these schools as follows;

SCH UG MBA
IU 18 18
OSU 41 NA
MSU 48 41

BW rankings are worst than US News. High variance from year to year when schools don't really change much at all. Too much emphasis on surveys of students and interviewers who can be highly influenced by outside factors.

^ Same could be said for Wall Street Journal rankings...or any ranking for that matter, really.

IMO, USNWR and BW have the schools in the right order.

I'd say MSU and IU have a better feel than OSU.

IU being a stronger completely in business, while MSU has a bit of an athletic/social feel IMO. (but I'm from Michigan so I'm biased)

Actually, barrylaoren, I'm an MSU (undergrad) alum from Ohio who, for a year, lived next door to OSU's campus, so I'm very familiar with it. One of my best buds taught and got his Ph.D. at Ohio State... It's very good, but a much more rah-rah rowdier school than either MSU or IU. People actually get violent during football season, esp for the season-ending rivalry game against U-M. People actually throw beer on opposing alums and I've seen Wolverine fans actually bloodied after they beat OSU. The local U-M alumni actually discourage visiting alums attending THE GAME to actually not were U-M clothing for fear of physical safety... This was a REAL turnoff to me. As an Ohioan and Michigan hater (in fun, of course) I love Buckeye football, too, but not like that... no way would I send a kid there. No way.

Actually, I was thinking of WSJ's rating as opposed to BW's. I know a few years ago, MSU was ranked 13th but dropped a bit, recently.

Indiana has the most acclaimed reputation, but the other two are solid as well. You'd get a great education from any of the three.

Pick the one you like best, atmosphere-wise.

Actually Quincy, WSJ ranks these schools as follows (regional);

OSU 3
IU 5
MSU 18

Machman- Isn't the WSJ rating just on graduate schools?
