OSU or Cincinnati - Industrial Design?

I graduate from high school in May and have applied to both the University of Cincinnati and Ohio State University.
I am going to major in Industrial Design and I want the best overall college - obviously - for my major.

However, I also take the atmosphere into consideration including the

city surrounding the college

classroom setting

I am visiting both of them - and to be honest I am almost practically in love with Cincinnati.
However - Ohio State is ranked right behind them in Industiral Design.

Please give me your opinion of which is better for my program.
Also any experiences - whether good or bad- you may have had with the colleges.

Thanks :)

I imagine you will get a lot of responses favoring OSU. It has an overall better reputation from a ranking standpoint, however that does not necessarily mean it is a better college for you. My point is make your selection based on how well you feel each school fits your goals, personal and professional.

I am a Cincinnati alumni but would be the first to say that OSU is stronger in many more programs than UC. UC, however, is very strong in Industrial Design. I had a few friends that were involved with that program and their only complaint was the workload. It is an exceptional program.

Cincinnati itself is a great city and I prefer it over Columbus. The immediate area surrounding UC is not an oasis by any means but the campus itself is nice and more compact than OSU. UC also has a smaller student population. You will still get stuck in the occasional mega class for some introductory courses but that will happen at most larger universities. If you have not had the chance, I would highly recommend you sit in on a class and speak with a professor at both universities if you have the opportunity. Good luck and go Bearcats!

Thanks for the feedback - BobbyCT!
I really appreciate it :)

I visited and after talking with design students from UC - I realized that workload seemed to be the only complaint - like you said
OSU is great, But the Co-op program UC has is pretty hard to top…
( in Industrial Design anyway)

For Industrial Design I would say UC has the advantage (and I’m not a UC grad).

For Industrial Design, I would say Cincinnati.
