OSU SUSTAIN Learning Community

My son is trying to decide whether to live in Honors Dorm or join the SUSTAINS Learning Community at OSU. Does anyone have experience with the Sustain LC and able to share their experience? Interested in how much time is required since he’ll be carrying an honors engineering work load. Are there many engineers in Sustain? Any input would be appreciated.

I am hoping someone answers this as my son is considering the same.

@MomMartha - My son decided to apply to three learning communities after speaking with his cousin who is a freshman and will be an RA next year. What’s your son’s major? Maybe we should get our kids in touch with each other. I know my son is also looking for a roommate.

@Mombean - My son is an Engineering major and wants to concentrate in Environmental Engineering. He is waiting to hear back from Honors College. He also plans on trying out for marching band. We have one more college visit in early April before he makes his final decision (although we have put our deposit down at Ohio State). We live in Northern Virginia. I can reach out to you once he makes his final decision to see if your son is still looking for a roommate and see if they may be a fit.

@MomMartha That sounds good. My son is in high school marching band and every other band available at the school, but plays saxophone, which they don’t have in the OSU marching band. I’m hoping he can play in some orchestra or jazz band at OSU. I’m not sure how to send each other private messages so we can exchange contact information for our kids. Even if they don’t room together, I’m sure making more friends would be always be good. I’ll hope your son chooses OSU.
