Hello! So I'm in a predicament, as most of you know May 1st is around the corner and I haven't made a decision yet. I've narrowed my choices down to either UNC chapel hill or OSU. Before I visited OSU recently, I visited UNC a few months ago and absolutely loved it. I applied EA as an OSS and was accepted in January, but they gave me no money (not surprised). I also got into OSU which gave me 50% tuition and acceptance into the honors program. The main thing holding me back from enrolling in UNC right now is the money issue. I'm most likely going to be going to graduate school so money is really affecting my decision. Although UNC is great, it's approximately triple the price I would be paying at OSU, but I like UNC better than OSU in every aspect, so I am at a loss. I could really use some peoples opinions on what they think would be a good choice or what else I should consider. Thanks!!

Is the money something your parents are willing to pay? You are full pay OOS at 50k? That is vs 16k then? For two public colleges, one you are in the honors program for? really?

My parents would match what’d I would be paying at Ohio if I went to UNC but I also don’t want to put that financial burden on them. I know the decision seems obvious but UNC is a better school academics wise (in my opinion at least) and I also like the school better and in terms of happiness I just think i would fare better at UNC. On the other hand, OSU is offering me honors and a cheaper tuition. I’m just trying to weigh what is more important to me at this point

Is OSU Ohio State?
If so, why would you think the academics are better at UNC? I highly doubt that.

UNC is certainly not worth it. UNC is a big public flagship; don’t romanticize it into something deserving a ridiculously higher cost.
