Hello all,
I’ve been stuck on whether or not I should commit to Ohio State due to how competitive the nursing program is. I’ve heard about half of the applicants get accepted into the BSN program. I’ve been accepted to Kent State’s nursing program as well. Just curious if anyone has advice?
If Kent State is direct entry and you are set on nursing do not pass up the opportunity.
Personally, for me both colleges seem alike and I’ve been accepted to both pre-nursing programs. I’ve always dreamed of going to OSU, but feel like the chances of not being accepted into the program are too high compared to Kent.
Kent State is not direct admit - you have to apply for the program at the end of either your freshman or sophomore year. I believe the consensus is that there is also no direct admission to OSU’s nursing program.
My daughter did not apply to either because she wanted a direct admit program.
I think the opportunities would be much greater at OSU, provided you can get into the program. I have a cousin at Kent State who took two tries to get into her program - the first time her GPA was 3.7 and the requirement that year was a 3.75. She got in the next time applications were accepted (maybe the following semester?). The applicants were first prioritized by science GPA and then regular GPA.
I wouldn’t be surprised if OSU was tougher to get into.
