Hey, I’m in a kind of similar situation, having to choose between programs So, (being the nerd I am) I checked out the US News and World Report Ultimate Guide to Medical Schools. So let’s see…

USC Keck School of Medicine:
36th for research, 3.64 avg. entering gpa, 11.1 avg MCAT bio, 5.6% acceptace rate

Ohio State University School of Medicine:
30th for research, 31st for primary care, 3.74 avg. entering GPA, 11.2 avg. MCAT bio, 8.7% acceptance rate

Hope it helps! Both are really really good programs, and you’re really lucky to have the choice.

I got into the OSU program and will probably be going there :)

ooh you did? did we meet there – PM me ur name!

btw I also checked out the ratings and USC is now actually 34 and OSU is 27
Other than that the only up that OSU has is that it’s 7 years if i want it to be…meaning I have enough flexibility in that area.

USC - Pass/Fail grading
[Keck : Education : Medical Degrees : MD Program : Medical Curriculum : Doctor of Medicine](http://www.usc.edu/schools/medicine/education/degrees_programs/mdp/md/med_curr.html)
“Each week of the academic year is composed of approximately 20 hours of lecture and small groups sessions with an additional 20 hours of independent directed study or Introduction to Clinical Medicine and the Patient. Examinations in all systems throughout the first two years are graded Pass/Fail. Dean’s recognition is awarded on the basis of year-end comprehensive examinations and special projects.”

Ohio State - pass/fail with honors and letters (whatever that means you’ll have to ask)
http://medicine.osu.edu/students/life/resources/handbook/Documents/6%20Academic%20Affairs.pdf
“The College of Medicine uses the standard grading system of The Ohio State University. Medical school classes officially use a pass/fail system consisting of: S = Satisfactory, U = Unsatisfactory”

In addition, for internal College purposes (not to be recorded on an official transcript), a curricular component program may use the following grades: Honors = Outstanding performance, Letter of Commendation = Performance clearly above average

Internal grades will appear on the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) sent to residency programs in the student’s fourth year."

I would go with USC.

but here are the pros/cons that I see for each program:

USC bacc/MD:

Pros -
Its LA!
great study abroad
prestigious medical school
great undergraduate

Cons -
Medical school - pretty expensive
8 year program (so I can’t graduate early)

OSU Map program:

Pros -
could be completed in 7 or 8 years
prestigious medical school & research (not as expensive as USC)

Cons -
Dorms for first year – not too great
more requirements to stay in the program = more work
not as great of an undergrad as USC

If anyone else can think of any others that should be included… please do not hesitate to add!
So considering all of these pros/cons what program will be best in your perspective?
thanks in advance.
