OT: Not a permanent resident?

How will it affect college admissions for me if I'm not a permanent resident of the US? I've lived here since I was seven, and my parents are about to apply pretty soon. I'm not sure if I'll get the "yes" soon enough though.

You will be considered as an international student. This means lower acceptance rates and possibly no finaid at many schools across the US. Although you are put in the pool along with students from all over the world, I think you still have a slight edge in terms of admissions since you've grown up in a US system. It might help the adcoms relate to you since your school record will be in the US system.

You are not eligible of financial aid at most colleges and universities until you become a permanent resident and you would likely have to pay out-of-state tuition at your in-state public universities.

If you won't apply for financial aid anyway, you've got nothing to worry about. If you need financial aid, include a note of your permanent resident application in your application of admission and international student financial aid application (if applicable) and keep the colleges you are applying to updated about the development. And be sure to apply to a "financial safety" school.
