on the rice supplement, they ask you to list other colleges that you are applying to. what should i do? i don't want them to know that i'm applying to schools such as yale, duke, upenn, emory. any answers?

Don't worry, most everyone is applying to those schools who also applies to Rice. That's the quality of student who goes to Rice. My son put those and MIT and he got into Rice and is there now, enjoying it.

Well, for one, don't lie; you'd be surprised how "connected" these schools can be. Second, it doesn't hurt to list them; Rice already knows what its primary competition is and your answers won't surprise anyone. Third, it's not like Rice is going to ask for their opinions prior to making its decision.

Your school choices are just another factor that can, perhaps, give a little insight into you as a person. It doesn't hurt and it might even help; what would you think if you received an application that listed no other schools?
