Other Colleges? What will you choose?

Hey ya'll, while I'm thrilled about Davidson and am seriously considering it, I also have other schools that I will be thinking about attending. If you got into Davidson, state where else you were accepted and where you think you will be attending? It will be fun to see where Davidson acceptees applied. Congrats all!

I'll start:
Accepted: UCLA, UCB, Colgate, William and Mary, Boston College, Davidson
Rejected: Stanford, Williams
Waitlisted: Rice, Bowdoin

My guess is that I will be heading to Davidson! Woot~

Davidson Grinnell, Kenyon, Middlebury, Carleton. ???????????

accepted- Davidson, Duke, Bowdoin, Haverford, Kenyon, Vanderbilt
waitlist- Brown, Williams
incomplete-Pomona (they never recieved my SAT score even though i paid collegeboard to send it, so they threw out my application)

My favorites are Davidson Duke Bowdoin and Haverford.

YOU WROTE: "Davidson Grinnell, Kenyon, Middlebury, Carleton. ???????????"

They are all small, after that they can be very different.

For instance the campus politics is amazingly different at Grinnell, Middlebury or Carleton from a Kenyon or Davidson. The people at Davidson are more southern, not said in a derogatory manner as I am from the south, than the people in the other schools. Religion means something at Kenyon, and nothing at Grinnell or Carleton, and a great deal at Davidson.

If you are an academic elitist, Carleton is the premier school followed closely by Grinnell and Davidson. Really, there is almost -- if not -- nothing which separates the three.

In short, to have those schools on the same plate is a bit surprising as they are for very different people. Which do you fit in best? That is how you answer the question you posed -- a question only you can answer. If you can't answer, skip some classes and check the campuses.

Accepted-my 3 safeties, haverford, bowdoin, macalester, uchicago, davidson

Rejected from my five reaches. tear. oh well, at least no waitlists.

deciding between uchicago and davidson, money and diversity playing big factors, as well as background.

"If you are an academic elitist, Carleton is the premier school followed closely by Grinnell and Davidson."

Middlebury will give any of those schools a run for their money in terms of academics.

A quick review of arcadia's posts shows a distinct preference for all things Middlebury.

fireflyscout--absolutely. I think Midd is one of the best colleges in the country, and have a personal connection there. I guess I'm the first person in CC history to advocate for a college I think is great.

Your point is????

Guys, chill out, Middlebury, Carelton, Williams, et al are great academically, probably slightly better than Davidson academically but we EASILY trump them in other departments. Life is much more than simply academics when differenting between schools that are all top 10 SLACs. There is nothing wrong with ranking schools in your percieved order of merit. I do think that we should avoid a confrontation solely about Middlebury on a Davidson board. What you have written about earlier has been informative, however, I would prefer that the personal aspects of this discussion not get esculated.
