<p>I know about COSMOS, TIP and CTY, but since i don't live in california, COSMOS is waaaaaay too expensive ($6000!), and i've read CTY seems to be a bit childish and oriented towards grade 7s and 8s. </p>
<p>so i was wondering if there were any other programs open to grade 9s this summer. because i really don't want to sit on my butt all day during the summer and drool. it seems all the programs i've read about are for at least grade 10s, if not juniors.</p>

<p>CTYI is a separate program from the U.S. CTY and my sense is that the rules are more relaxed.</p>

<p>CTY isn't all for 7th & 8th -- Son did it last year & except for him & 1 other kid all were rising 10th.</p>
<p>Most of the kids my son befriended were 15 yrs old</p>
<p>There are some good directories specifically for these type of programs. A google search will net the best ones but off the top of my head - kidscamps.com and goabroad.com. I'm sure there are others too.</p>
