I'm just finishing up my freshman year of college and I'm a little concerned with my GPA. I did exceptionally well first quarter, with a 3.9, but my grades have slipped since. I took an advanced math class my winter quarter along with the hardest chemistry class of the gen chem series, resulting in a drop to a 3.1. This quarter is a balance between the two, averaging at about a 3.6 (thanks to physics...). I know I'm only a freshman and GPA isn't everything that med schools look at, but I was just wondering of any other options for a bio degree in the practical world, just in case it doesn't work out. I really want to be a pediatrician or dermatologist, but I've been thinking about working as a genetic counselor as another job choice. I just want to see what is out there for people with bio degrees outside of med school. Don't get me wrong, it's still my dream. Just browsing though other options. Thanks!

Frankly not many good ones. A BS Biology is not a very employable degree at all. You will need some sort of graduate training (and not a pure science one either as that is even worse) such as med, pharm, dental, PT, PA, OT, Optometry or a business or engineering graduate degree. Otherwise unemployment and dead end temp lab tech jobs are what await you.
