Other schools you're considering?

A2Wolves6, I've been thinking along your lines.

I see that you may consider Miami. Thinking of living there?

I want to, but my parents are very concerned about allowing me to go there. They feel that the transportation expense is too much. Also, the Financial Aid package Miami gave me was less than terrible.

I need them to increase my aid, and I need to be rejected from Michigan to consider Miami. I've been deferred from Michigan.

Good luck on getting into Michigan.

did anyone recieve their orientation guide stuff from IU yet? they started to send them out early febuary.

nvm just got mine today

I got my orientation guide yesterday, and my 101 hints thing today.

101 hints? is tat from IU?

It's a big thin red packet like the orientation thing, did you pay your deposit already, because then you may be talking about something else.

yea ive already submitted by deposit

Ok then yeah, i'm talking about something different.

dstark,

I think SDSU is not looked upon as being up to the other business schools mentioned--mostly because SDSU is looked on as the party school in San Diego (and San Diego is kind of a party town to begin with).

As far as Miami and Texas--I'd say Texas definitely ranks higher (top 5 in some rankings), but Miami (of Florida I presume you mean) ranks quite a ways down most lists. Besides, South Beach will be so much of a distraction I can't see any student doing really well there. It's kind of like Spring Break all year round.

P.S. Up above where I mentioned I had a class with with Stephen Spielberg I meant to say that he came and visited a class I was in--quite a difference I'll admit. But I was actually in a class with "The Carpenters" singing group (like Spielberg they were also Cal State Long Beach dropouts).

You know, in looking through the posts I'd say I agree a lot with A2Wolves post about recruiters mainly recruiting in the local area--so therefore go to college where you want to live.

The exception to this would be if you go to a great program known for national recruiting (Indiana's finance program falls into this category), or if you plan to go on to graduate school--in which case you can relocate to the area close to that grad school after you finish up that program.

For example, go to Indiana now, then go to Miami (Fla) or University of Florida for grad school if you decide you want to live in Florida or go to a MBA school that's known nationally--like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Northwestern, Chicago, or Michigan--from which you can easily get jobs with Florida firms.

My son got his orientation package yesterday.

you mean the new student guide to orientation or the official invitation to sign up for orientation which the IU website says are sent out in April?

YAY I GOT INTO UCI!!!! woot

Congrats!

Are you going there?!

naw just a bakup, its probaly where im going to go ( or ucsd) if IUB doesnt work out for me financially :( but its gud to have a "just in case" school so you dont end up goin to cc and transfer, then all that work in high school is down the toilet lol

my s. got into IUB w/ partial scholarhship $, u Michigan no money, Bentley business, Stonehill, USF and waiting on 5 more schools. IUB is real viable option, its one of the big state 10 schools you consistently hear great things about, and phenomenal world class music and business schools, his two interests. IUB is really on the up and up with many mags now profiling it, and selectivity expected to REALLY go up next year given the tremendous amount of applications they got this year. Good luck to you all!

I'm in at IU, and I'm waiting on USC, Northwestern, and Notre Dame.

Aeggie - Did you apply anywhere else? It just seems odd someone applying to 3 reaches and one safety. No real Match schools?
