I only applied to schools I really, really wanted to go to. IU fit the bill, and I felt like I could get in. After I had a fallback there was never really a reason why I would look for middle ground when I didn't see anything that appealed to me for reasons that were not financial (As far as match schools, I am pretty sure I could've gotten a full ride to UF, as a national merit finalist, but the school doesn't hold any pull for me). I love IU, and I know a lot of pretty cool people that go to school there. If I find out next week that USC and Northwestern don't want me, I don't think I'd be too upset.

P.S. Notre Dame isn't a reach for me. I have family members on admissions. I applied waaaaay past the deadline (early March), and I've got to be a shoe-in. I don't want to go though, I only applied to get my mother to quiet down.

NYU Stern or CAS?...either way Congrats. I'd consider the $ value of attending NYU...its also a hard decision period. A lot of people will say NYU > IU, it is, but for business its hard to decide.

Thank you! I'm in Gallatin, which is individualized study. I can take Stern classes.

IU even has an individualized major that's basically the same thing as Gallatin.

IU seems to have a great Classics dept. I've also always wanted to learn how to play the harp : ) Are there beginner music classes at IU or do you have to be a prodigy from the get- go?

IU has also given me a generous merit award that I am loathe to give up. My dad could pay for NYU, but it would be silly to fork over so much more of his hard earned $ for no reason.

Right now, all NYU really has going for it is the NY location and/or connections. I've lived here quite a while, and I'm not sure I want to stay here for school.

Any OUT OF STATE people willing to share their merit scholarship amount from IU-Bloomington. I wouldn't know what to expect seeing this is the only out of state public school I applied to. Also list your credentials (ACT/SAT, class rank, gpa) if you are willing to. Thanks.

Trial by Fire,
If IU is giving you more money, has everything you want, and you have lived in New York for quite a while, I would recommend going to IU. I can't speak for the differences in the departments you want, but I think it is usually a good idea to attend college in a different part of the country than where you live. It gives you a chance to experience a new part of the country and meet new people. And, if it saves you money, too...

You must be one of the few out of state people to get a great deal from IU. Congratulations!

I got 6K per year with a 29 ACT and a 3.6.
parikhs got 6K per year with a 3.6 and a 28
GBAMom's S got 6K per year with a 3.5 and a 28
HauckT got 7K per year with a 3.2 and a 34
Dcho got 7K per year with a 3 something and a 30
Classmate got 2K per year with a 3.1 and a 24

I think that everyone who gets 7K per year also gets the SSA for some more potential scholarship, but I think the cutoff for the 7K is a 30 ACT.
