Where else are people applying (or are considering if they don’t get in ED)?
Do you think someone who likes Brown would like Wesleyan?

I personally LOVED Brown and it was my second choice but I wasn't too hot on Wesleyan when I visited. I think Brown is much more mainstream, although maybe I just hung out with the wrong crowd at Wesleyan. Personally I liked Vassar much more, although maybe its because I hung out with the right crowd.

If I had to put my finger on it, I'd say the Brown alum I have met over the years seem a tad more conflicted when it comes to politics than many Wesleyan people; they don't necessarily agree with everything Bush does, but, they don't see themselves as protesters either. Wesleyan people have their opinions and tend to think it is only a matter of time before others share them. Brown people tend think its in bad taste to have strong opinions about anything, or at least, to express them out loud.

Of course, these are are broad caricatures of people I have known and in most cases enjoyed knowing immensely; it doesn't mean everyone you meet at either school will be exact copies of them.

I sort of felt that Wesleyan people were militant liberal, while Brown people seemed much more accepting and interesting overall.

Yes, I often get the feeling that Brown people are practicing to run for public office at some future point, or at the very least, to hit me up for a donation for something. :)

Is it rare to love Brown and not love Wesleyan? Other people in my school got rejected from Brown and ended up at Wesleyan instead. Not for me hopefully.

The ideal situation would be get accepted to Brown early, happiness, etc. But Wes does seem to have a similar environment (on paper, anyway). I'm going up there for an official visit soon and am not sure what to expect.
