Other types of aid available for online degrees besides federal aid

Hi,

I am new here and am looking for other sources of financial aid besides federal aid. I am no longer eligible due to the new laws that took place this year for Pell Grants due to the years allowed.

Unfortunately, I had almost completed a degree in sociology dated back to the 1980s. I have been told that many schools won't take courses back that far. So, not only will I not be eligible for financial aid but due to how old the courses are I might not be able to use them as well.

I also took student loans out to go Hamilton college in the past in the 1990s for a diploma in desktop publishing.

I have completed a recent AA degree in Medical Secretary which I could transfer to a 4 year college. I would like to do an online program at a non-profit accredited college.

I need to look at other financial aid options besides federal aid. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to go into marketing/Marketing Research analyst. I also have a disability which has kept me out of the workforce for a period of time, but have been involved doing voluntary work.

University of Hays KS
University of Northwestern Ohio
Upper Iowa University

Please feel free to include other low tuition accredited colleges that might have payment plans.

Thanks

Depending on your income and credit scores, you might be able to obtain private loans.

Are you maxed out on Stafford (Federal Direct) loans? If not, then in most situations those are better choice then Federal Direct. If yes, then I would seriously think before obtaining any more loans.

In most cases, your best bet is in-state public U that offers online degrees. Try to find the cheapest one in your state.

If all else fails, use the AA degree in Medical Secretary to get a job, work, and save to afford more courses. Lots of schooling just for the sake of schooling isn’t really going to get you anywhere. The whole point is the job. You have a valuable degree you can use to get you somewhere financially. Why not use it?
