other writing competitions besides Scholastics

okay so i'm kinda bummed. i'm not gonna be able to write for Scholastics this yr and i'm a junior already...i really wanted to do it tho...

so i'm just wonderin if there are other competitions that may or may not be as prestigious as the Scholastics but are also worthwhile and renowned...if that's the correct term to describe it...i'm still probably gonna revise my memoir next yr my when i'm a senior but i kinda want to do somethin w/it now since it's my second to last yr in high school.

any suggestions?
thx in advance! :P

Search around on this forum. There are several threads listing writing contests.

On a second note, I discovered this site a few days ago: Poetry Contests. It says poetry, but provides several links to semi-obscure but nonetheless excellent online and print literary magazines, many of which are willing to publish all kinds of student writing.

^thx! i'll make sure i check that out!

anyone else? lol

some writing contests that come off the top of my head: kenyon young writers, elizabeth bishop, howard nemerov awards, princeton creative writig thingy... just go on google.

in the meantime you could submit your writing to Teen Ink magazine to try and get it published nationally. oOoh

These are mostly poetry, but check them out anyway:
