I'd like to ask anyone abt what the school is like. I got accepted to undergrad saic and otis and scad.. but otis seems like the most organized one.. btw i wanna do interior design

I am a fashion design major at Otis, which is one of the strongest , if not the strongest, programs at Otis.

You have to understand that Otis doesn't offer an interior design program. The closest to it is the Landscape/interior/architecture program, which I'm still clueless about just because a lot of the students who do end up going into that major tend to have an interest more with architecture, and by the work produced it tends to reflect it. I may be wrong, but that's what I get from it.

In general there are hardly any schools in the Los Angeles area that actually have a program that focuses solely on interior design. With that said, you should honestly ask yourself what's most important to you and is the school you are going to attend going to offer the skills that you need to get to your career goals. I imagine being in Los Angeles and in one of the hottest markets for real estate, it would be easy interning or getting experience with interior designers. But Otis may not be what you are looking for in terms of education, just because I think they focus more on the interior and exterior architecture of buildings, houses, etc.

If you are coming straight out of high school, Otis is a good transition, just because a lot of the students coming into Otis are also recent high school grads, and many of the ones who dorm foundation year tend to be new to LA and end up bonding with each other sooner than later.

Thanks a lot for ur helpful reply. i will attend otis for undergrad (i got merit scholarship from saic and combined honors from scad) as i don't wanna go to a big school.
wouldn't it be broader education to study both interior and exterior?
i don't know

when you think of interior design what exactly is it that you want from it or expect from it?

because i don't believe they cover interior decoration, and if that's what you expect to learn, then it's not the school to go to.

thanks again for ur advice. i will attend foundation year then decide again.

i believe that i will find a way. thank you very much again for ur advice

i also got into Parsons in NYC, which my parents think is too busy a city for me.. so i have to go to OTIS. hope i will not fail next year

could anyone who knows tell me if the interior program at parsons is good? im on the wait list for risd... and it appears that i will not get in to risd

I took one of Otis' high school level classes and I absolutely loved it. The class was Painting with Acrylics and it was so much fun. The teacher was great.

hi i also have a sense that Otis College of Art and Design would be a happy place for me. ;) i shall stop talking so much now. ;p
