OU Honors Program & Medical Humanities Program

@vrhou98 Yes, my DD is a NMF. How about you, or your DS/DD?

I am also a NMF. Good luck! If I find out any results, I’ll be sure to post them here.

This morning, University of Oklahoma Medical Humanities Scholars staff sent an email to congratulate my DD on her acceptance into the interview round of the selection process for their 8-year BA/MD program.Interviews are set for Friday, 3/25/2016, and Monday, 3/28/2016, on a first-come, first-served basis. My DD chose Monday, 3/28th.

Congrats to your D @RayznHELL It’s an honor to be selected for the interviews. I’m a parent of a D16 (NMF) who will be OU class of 2020!

Congrats to your daughter, RazynHell. Unfortunately, I was not selected, most likely due to my lack of volunteering and experience. Regardless, good luck to everyone selected. I’m not too bummed out, as I have an interview for a similar program in two weeks, though education there is not free

@vrhou98, sorry to hear that you were not selected for the OU MHSP interview stage. It may make you feel a little better to know that this year was even more selective than past years. They received more than 150 applications this year versus about 70 per year before this. I trust you will PREPARE for the BA/MD (or BS/MD) interviews you are scheduled for–far better to rely on Good Preparation rather than just Good Luck!

@RayznHELL Congrats to your daughter!

@vrhou98 Don’t get too upset about not getting a shot at this program. A lot of students from this programs do not end up utilizing them. They either drop out of the pre-med track or opt to go elsewhere, even thought hey have a spot locked up at OU (or wherever the school may be). You’ll be just fine either way, but best of luck (and preparation!) for your interview!

@vrhou98 Don’t know if you have made any decisions yet, but even without this specific program, having your first four or five years of tuition covered is huge if you want to go to med school. It is an expensive process. It may be better to get your BS on the big scholarship and save the money for med school. Good luck either way!

As mentioned, my DD was at Oklahoma University on Monday, 3/28/2016, for an interview to take a spot in their 8-year BA-MD program. That evening they sent her an email stating that she was selected as one of the Medical Humanities Scholars Program scholars for this year at OU!!!

Boomer Sooner! I’m so glad for your daughter!!!

Congrats to your daughter @RayznHELL - is she saying “yes” to OU?

My D who attended interview on 3/25 also got the acceptance. Most likely she will accept it. Also 1 more person in BS/MD thread informed got the offer.

Congratulations to your DD too @GoldenRock !

@oneundecided Even before we knew the positive result of the BA/MD Program interview, we bought her 2 University of Oklahoma “crimson and cream” t-shirts with varying designs to go with the t-shirt she got from OU’s National Merit Scholars Program staff. Our DD is OU Bound! “Boomer Sooner!”

I was waitlisted for the University of Oklahoma BA/MD program. Any one have an idea if I have a shot at getting in?

@junebug999 FYI. One person decided not to go with OU MHSP and plan to notify by this weekend. So some one will get the acceptance based on the wait list order.

I know you posted this in the BS/MD thread also. Hope you already know about it. GL.
