OU Humiliates OSU in NCAA Volleyball Championships

<p>COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio University volleyball team exacted revenge on Ohio State, sweeping the Buckeyes 3-0 () to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. </p>

<p>Senior Co-Captains Julia Winkfield (Newark, Ohio) and Holly Schetzsle (Pataskala, Ohio) paced the offense with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Savanah Parra (Temecula, Calif.) set the Bobcat attack with 38 assists. Michaele Blackburn (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 16 kills and became Ohio's all-time leader in career digs. </p>

<p>The Ohio offense showed no signs of jitters in the opening frame, connecting at a ..350 clip. Melissa Griffin (Whitehall, Mich.) led the Bobcats with six kills in the game with Winkfield adding five. The Ohio defense was impressive in its own right, holding Ohio State to a .227 hitting percentage. </p>

<p>The Bobcats refused to let up on the Buckeyes in the second game. Ohio grabbed an early advantage and kept the pressure on Ohio State. The Bobcat defense continued its strong play in the second frame, holding the Buckeyes to a negative ..081 hitting percentage. Schetzsle led the offense with four kills in the game with Stephanie Blackburn (Cincinnati, Ohio) adding three. </p>

<p>The Ohio had one of its finest games of the season in the third and deciding frame, hitting .455 to send the Bobcats to California and the Sweet 16. </p>
