About two weeks ago, my D, who is a Canadian citizen, but lives in US, applied to an Ontario university via OUAC. Fee paid. So what happens next? Will there be some sort of status report when she logs into OUAC. Thus far nothing…
It’s been too long ago that my Ds applied for undergrad through OUAC for me to know definitively how the process works now but you can always call and inquire. The # is 519-823-1940. I know that in the past apps were not forwarded to the universities until after the deadline date.
Have transcripts been sent?
Each university will contact her individually for next steps. But I wouldn’t expect that contact to be until November/December. I believe most of the contact for D16 happened by snail mail.

No transcripts have been sent. Is that protocol?
Yes, it’s protocol to send transcripts now. The transcripts should be sent directly to the universities, not through OUAC. ACT or SAT scores should also be submitted directly to the universities.
Each university has its own system. Some have portals to track application completeness, some don’t. The necessary information on how to send scores and transcripts should be found on each university’s website. Look for the information for US high schools. For example, U of T’s info is here: http://future.utoronto.ca/apply/applying
The requirements for different programs varies. Some may ask for a written supplement. Some have a video interview. Some have portfolio requirements. The details for any supplements required should arrive directly from each university either via email or snail mail.
Good grief, this makes the McGill application process seem like a piece of cake!
“Good grief, this makes the McGill application process seem like a piece of cake!”
Four years ago my daughter had a lot of trouble applying to Queen’s because the application process was so hard to navigate. McGill in comparison was a piece of cake, as were the smaller schools in eastern Canada that my youngest applied to more recently.
McGill may be a piece of cake but the OUAC app process is really not that difficult. Thousands of students manage to do it every year!
