Ouch! PSU Tuition - On a Relative Basis

From the Washington Monthly - July 6, 2010:

"Pennsylvanians can expect to pay 19 out of every $100 on tuition, the most in our survey. Penn State in University Park has the greatest in-state tuition of any major public university in the United States."

Yeah - UT Austin is right up there too. Not much fun! :(

Before you get too riled up about it, you better look at the data they used. They stated U of Utah at $9422, and in reality it is actually about $7300 for an 18-credit load.

As Pennsylvania is near and dear to my heart (or rather, wallet), the PSU tuition they listed is, unfortunately, accurate. However, it does not include the ~ $800 in fees that are tacked on to the tuition bill as well.

The schools in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education are-- Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester Universities. PSU is considered a “state-related” university and as such receives less state support.
