<p>You don’t have to be a champion at science fairs (or a participant – I wasn’t). You have to have some special qualities, but luckily, most applicants do have at least one.

<p>I mean, “special” doesn’t just mean “a world-renowned expert in something terrifyingly difficult.” My husband was special because he was a mogul skiier who built rockets in his spare time, for example.</p>
