@soozievt, I saw your request for a master list and have passed it along to @CCadmin_Sorin. I was just offering to help find fora for people in the meantime.
Musical Theater is under Home / College Admissions and Search / College Majors. It took me a little while to find it (I was looking for engineering earlier).
Hmmm…I’m lost.
Looking for the long list of forums. That’s how I used to zip around the site. Looking for Parent Cafe…found something called CC Community Cafe?
I did manage to find a list of my Bookmarks. Black dot means new post?
If you can’t find a forum, you can look at your profile and click on a reply that was in the forum you’re looking for. The reply will come up and you can see where it’s located. I know it’s just a work-around, but I’m trying to help.
This link is not on the main forum page however, and the way I found it was that I drilled down a level, and there was a “College Admissions and Search” breadcrumb. Click on the breadcrumb, and if you scroll down you’ll see it.
ETA: ahh - on the main forum page on the left, there’s a set of short-cuts labeled “top forums”, “college admissions and search”, etc.
Click on the “college admissions and search” link.
I appreciate your trying to help. First, they MUST have a list of all the forums!
Secondly, I still cannot find the Musical Theater Forum. I went to Home and then College Admissions. Once there, did not see “Search” and so did not get to “College Majors.”
Agree that in addition to the long loading time the video ad is incredibly distracting. Is there a way for it to stay still unless a person hits a “play” button or something. The ad is so annoying I’m sure it will lead to my spending less time on CC. I understand the desire of the powers that run CC to earn money through ads but it should not be at the expense of user satisfaction.
Thanks @MaineLonghorn , I was eventually able to get in the forum home page. I clicked on college admissions and college life is nowhere to be seen. That’s a pretty important forum to a lot of students, so @CCadmin_Sorin , the powers that be need to make it visible to users.
There’re many ways to stop video auto-playing. Most browsers, including Chrome and Firefox, have options to stop video auto-play. Many third-party extensions, such as McAfee Web Boost, also have this feature.
Not loving this update, I don’t see how its improved the user experience in any way.
Most of my problems with it have already been addressed but in short summary there are now multiple steps required in place of simplicity which makes for an inconvenient browsing experience.
For anyone with ad or video issues consider an Adblock browser. I wouldn’t come here at all without one.
@soozievt@Lindagaf The list of forums that appears on the main page by default is the “top forums”. Use the selections on the left under “top forums” to get a bigger list of forums.
.
Music Theatre is under “College Search and Selections”, as is “College Life”.
@notrichenough Thanks for that link. That worked, but I am not sure how to find it without using your link. I could not seem to get to all those forums otherwise.
Anyway, while I realize change takes time to get used to, I find the new format to be really bad and a step backwards and I’ve been on CC for 17 years. It is much harder to navigate. Very little appears in the window at one time. What is the point of such a large font that a post can take up the entire window?
Also, sometimes when a forum is updated, it can allow members to opt to keep the old format, but that doesn’t seem to be an option here.
As it currently is, I’ll be discouraged to check out the site. Maybe It’ll be a time saver if I now will be spending less time on CC… .
The “most active this month” tally on the homepage is horrifying. If you were trying to shame me into wasting less time on CC, you’ve succeeded. If I ever make it onto that list then for sure I’ve been neglecting my work and family duties.
The new site design is terrible, anti-user friendly. You will lose readership and traffic. How will the loss of traffic help your advertisers? I suggest you offer the opportunity to go back to the old design, which was so much easier and intuitive. A sad day.
Everything is huge, it’s a pain to browse, it’s just awful.
Seriously, do they ever actually ask people who participate in online forums what feature they want, or do they have a bunch of kids who only use Instagram design this?
