Our Fresh New Look Is Here

Just saw the activity page. And all I can say is, “photogenic badge”??? I don’t have that. What, my dolphins are chopped liver? Hmmpph.

@artloversplus I don’t think CC will ever allow attached documents, photos, etc. Too hard to moderate. I can tell you that one time before deleting it, I clicked on a link that had a horrible pornographic image. I will never be able to get that out of my mind.

I’m one on those people that always has 40 tabs open in my browser… I still have a few open that still have the previous format in them for various subforums I follow.

Everything was so neat and compact, organized, easy to find stuff and see what’s changed, see what threads I am on, compared to the “new and improved” version.

Maybe the colors and fonts were “dated”, but it was so much easier to use the site. It really makes me kind of angry that we have been so disrespected by the new site.

To the powers that be… it’s not too late, be humble and admit this isn’t working, and put the old one back. Try again with smaller changes that you test first.

Pageviews are at the lowest level for the last three years that data is publicly available that I can find. The new site is a failure. I fear CC has entered a death spiral.

You guys are great! Thanks for the tips! ? **

I may be in the minority but the bolding of the font doesn’t really make it better for me - it’s the font itself that doesn’t lend itself to smooth reading.

@abasket I agree but with all of the new extraneous data in a post, bolding the content that matters makes it much easier to read.

**I’m gonna try to use boldface on this thread, in deference to all the adults who - like me - have trouble reading the font.

On a completely different issue, it’s not that I can’t workaround the present format. We’re not stupid. But, there are fewer places to land and just scope out what’s hot and what’s not. I know the designers think they are making it easier by pushing a separate Highlights table, but, I can’t get over the feeling that this is being cherry-picked for my benefit. I don’t understand why I still have to scroll down two or three screen lengths to get to the actual forums after I’ve already clicked on the Forum icon. So many other things. But, basically - other than this complaints thread - it just takes too long to connect with other forum regulars. **

Re activities page. List of most active - useless. Most helpful list is at least as advertised - all long time posters whose advice I’d take. Also hate new format btw. Awful on iPad.

** oh sick I’m on the most helpful page. Except that has no value to this site. Devs add features that add substance instead of fluff like that. I can also live without badges. **

@10s4life Actually I prefer no badges, no lists of “most helpful” etc. We are not young children in need of constant positive reinforcement. In fact I do not want to show up on any of those lists.

@happy1 maybe I misunderstood your post but that’s exactly what I said lol

@10s4life I agree with you completely – just wanted to add that I actually view these lists as almost a deterrent as I’d prefer not to show up on them.

Another observation…

On desktop (Safari), for very long threads, I DO see the option to go back to Page 1.

However, on mobile (Safari), I do NOT see the option to back to Page 1.

Rotate your phone to put it in landscape mode, see if you see it.

I don’t want to have to turn my phone sideways to use an app. I never had to with the old version.

It’s a bug in the page layout for narrow screens like a phone. They didn’t allocate enough space for the page component in portrait mode, even though there’s plenty of screen real estate.

Rotating your phone is just a quick workaround.

Anyone who believes the garbage the admin person posted a few pages back - I have a bridge to sell you.

Now I must get off to avoid getting a headache.

Rotating the screen and waiting for it to reload so I can go to a previous page, then waiting for it to load, turning the screen upright so I can actually read it, then doing the whole thing all over again to get back to where I started from is time consuming. The flickering on the page as everything reloads makes me nauseated and gives me a headache, sort of like reading in a car. If a function isn’t convenient and comfortable to use I won’t bother using it.

**Is it time for a weekly data report of how badly CC is doing from @Data10?

Also, I’m trying to get a sense of how many long-time members have left. Any mods or forum champions who have left? Are folks generally posting less than before the site revamp?**
