<p>^ OK and they are a lot of people who do pay that. But what I was really trying to say is that OP posted that she doesn’t think they can afford it without the neighbors help… So in that case is it really worth it?</p>
<p>I agree that if the OP can’t afford to send her child to a top school, would she feel truly comfortable taking $ from neighbors and taking on the risk that they might not pony up every year? Thats out of my comfort zone, for sure.</p>
<p>It is an absolutely lovely offer and speaks well of your family and your neighborhood. I would think that you’d have to set some ground rules first and know with absolute certainty that their generosity will last throughout the four years of your child’s undergraduate education. </p>
<p>And I agree that it is a moot point now. Let her apply, see where things go. . </p>
