Anyone have any idea what the admission percentage is for out of state applicants?

I live in GA and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I have a chance of getting in.
3.95 GPA (not UF) and about 4.6 if you add the UF stuff in for AP/Honors
2140 SAT - 770M - 640CR - 730W
I have a moderate amount of extracurricular activities but I'm not president of any clubs or anything.
My high school is one of the most competitive in Georgia; I am just barely in the top 20% even though I have gotten straight A's thoughout high school, with the exception of one B in AP Physics.
Also, my dad went to Florida.

Great job on your grades. Your SAT scores are pretty high as well, good enough for honors! I think that you have a good chance at acceptance. I honestly don't think that they really weigh the ECs too much. I would definitely say that SAT/GPA is much much more important based on the students I know that have gotten in. Pretty much you can outweigh your low ECs with a great GPA/SAT, but you can't outweigh a low GPA/SAT with great ECs. You see? I think that you've got a great chance esp with the legacy.. I'd go so far as to say 70-80% chance at least. Good luck and hope to be a fellow gator with you :D

If you look at the stats of incoming UF freshman, GPA is probably the biggest factor. And for applicants with a 4.0+, about 85% were accepted. While being out of state won't help you at all, I would bet that because of your great GPA and SAT you will get in. Good luck!

Somewhere on this board I read UF accepts around 5% out of state -- don't know if that's true. But with all the crushing budgetary restraints and so forth, I wouldn't doubt they need to open their limited enrollment more toward tax-paying Floridians ... not to throw cold water on your UF plans. On the other hand, your scores and grades are strong, the legacy Dad doesn't hurt....good luck!

the percentage of the freshman student body that was from out of state was 5%. but I am talking about of the out of state applicants what percentage is accepted?

Wit OOS tuiton being at 20k, it is not terrible, but does UF offer some financial aid, maybe not as much as to a FL resident, but FL people have bright futures. I'd like to knock the overall COA to <20k if I go OOS somewhere, but that may be hard at schools like UF, UGA, Michigan, etc...

Good question gatorboy; I'm not aware of any discrimination against OOS folks, but I did note that when I was in the honors dorms there was an unusually high number of OOS people (my roommate and one of my suitemates were from the Midwest, for example).
