Out of State Admissions

I know this probably varies significantly, but how much harder is it to get into a state school from out of state? Take UC San Diego, for instance… how much better does my application have to be than the kid’s from LA in order to be accepted?

In the case of UCs, oos kids need to have considerably higher stats. If you want a science major at UCSD, they want a lot. Keep in mind that you'll be paying the same price as you would for a top private college, and 4 year graduation rates are low and keep going down compared to good private schools, making undergrad at UCSD for an oos student potentially more expensive than an ivy or top LAC.

thanks for the feedback zagat.

How do these SATs look if i want to make UCSD a match from out of state?
