out of state applicants

is it true that most californian schools are notorious for having a greater admission percentage for californian students?

any if anyone knows... on average.. how many new yorkers apply and/or get accepted?

The University of California system does strongly favor Californian applicants, but these are only public schools with the priority of giving California students a good education. It isn't really a factor for Stanford; most of its students are from all over the country/world. You have nothing to worry about here.

Do you think it would help my application if I was from Vermont. I'm assuming they don't receive many good candidates from Vermont.

I don't know how many on average get in, but I'm from New York and I just got in, and I don't have like perfect scores or anything. I don't think it really makes that big of a difference where you're from.

Jetsax, could you post your stats for us? That'd be much appreciated!

SAT: 2140 (740 M, 700 V, 700 W)
SAT II: 780 Math 2, 710 Physics
GPA: 3.9ish or 4.0 (my school doesn't calculate it)
My school doesn't rank so I don't know my rank, but I'm near the top.

Thank you so much ! That gives me a ray of hope for being admitted RD :)

i think the majority of people who apply are from california, so they admit students proportionally. i don't think that stanford really favors california perse. i think they like diversity, so i feel like outofstate kids have an advantage. i don't know for sure though.
