Narrowing down the choices, and UCONN looks like it's near the top. My kid has a 3.7 from a good HS in Western PA, 640 Math, 650 Verbal, 700 Writing (took SATs last week and expects to do better). AAU and 3-yrs Varsity Basketball with winning teams, and a few other consistent activities including 300+ hours of hospital volunteering. 2 AP courses with grades of 3 (Euro History) and 4 (US History), and 7 credits from local colleges in statistics and French. Holds down a job. Is earning a 4.0+ as a Senior, taking Calculus, AP Economics, Anatomy and other courses. Dad is terminally ill with a degenerative disease, but Mom has a good job. One parent is an alumni.
