Does anyone know what the chances are for an out-of-stater (Washington DC area) to get into UCLA? College Board says that only 2% are from out of state! What is the typical GPA for an out-of-stater?

Doesn't matter if only "2%" from OOS. That says nothing about the acceptance rate. It's about 23-25%. But, UCLA does not publish information specifically about the stats of OOS students. Anecdotes suggest that it is slightly more competitive.

i think oos acceptance rates were actually higher than instate this year. Of course, there were way fewer applicants in comparison

where exactly are you from? i'm from montgomery county and all of the students at my high school who applied to UCLA got accepted (yes, all 3).

haha but really, the chances are about the same as in-state acceptance rates.

more self-selective anyway

in any case, if you can get into ucla oos, you could probably crack the other top25 schools -- privates will get you a better deal in terms of buying your education... and the resources available per student if you will
