Doubtful.

A 3.8 for OOS isn't at all good, really. It's even doubtful if an in-state student, who has lower thresholds for entrance, could get in with that.

GPA is extremely important to UVA.

Your SATs aren't exactly helping, either, although in themselves I think you have great scores. Just not for UVA and since they are attached to your GPA. (sorry)

Keep it in perspective--UVA got 11,000 applications from OOS students last year, and accepted 29% of those.

3.8 out of 4.0 isn't very good for unweighted? Now weighted I see but unweighted?

You have a shot but it is a reach I think. SAT's are at bottom rung of what UVA looks at. Give them dynamite essays and you have a better chance.

jeez! i didnt know my GPA was that bad! I know it is a reach, but I just wanted an idea. thanks

Your weighted GPA is very good. If you were IS you'd have an excellent chance. For OOS it's a little more dicey. What's your rank?

ivydreamin,

UVA is extremely competitive, but you aren't going to be rejected just because you have a 3.8. They look at your rigor of schedule as well. His sat scores are about average for last years class, maybe a little low for OOS. If he was in state he would have a great shot, not doubtful as you said.

I say he has a chance
