Out-of-State Chances

UW GPA: 3.1
Weighted: 3.6~7
Took 12 APs.
Top 5 public HS in California
SAT: 2200+
SAT IIs: 800, 760
Do i have chance???

Michigan takes a look at the "Michigan GPA" first and foremost, and your's is WELL below standards. It's your UW GPA, but get rid of non-academics and +/-. I don't think you have better than a 10% chance, even with a great SAT score. That shows you're slacking, or you have a school that's very difficult. What is your class rank? That may help, but I still think it's a big reach.

u took 12 aps.... shows u had a difficult course load. i think its a reach but i'd still apply.

Does your UNWEIGHED (Michigan does not look at weighed grades) GPA improve if you leave out your Freshman grades?

I agree that the fact that you come from one of the top 5 High Schools in California and that you took 12 AP classes will make your GPA all the molre impressive. But at 3.1, it is significantly lower than the Michigan standard (3.6-4.0). But yourSAT is good. Tell me, how did you do on your AP exams?

My school doesn't calculate unweighted GPA (as far as I know anyway, it doesn't appear on the transcript); will Michigan recalculate it for me or what?

Yes, Michigan recalculates everybody's GPA.
