Out of State for Top Publics

What are the hardest public schools to get into from out-of-state?

UVa and UNC-Chapel Hill are both very competitive for out-of-state.

What are the OOS acceptance rates for those schools?

Berkeley's also pretty competitive for OOS.

w&m had a 22% oos acceptance rate in 2005. Applied: 6,714, accepted: 1,471

uva was 30%
unc was 20%
uc berkely was 21.5%

All for 2005 fall applicants

Michigan is also hard for OOS people.

ALL North Carolina universities - including UNC-CH have an 18% OOS acceptance rate. Tho those numbers can be deceiving in some ways - especially when OOS students are included in the in-state numbers due to the financial package/scholarship/grants they may receive.

18% is target enrollment as dictated by state law. The acceptance rate is a
bit higher as the yield is not 100%.

UCB, UCLA, Michigan, Virgina, UNC-CH.
