According to many of the UC campus websites, “Students who are not residents of California must earn a GPA of 3.40 or higher”. As a potential out of state applicant, does the 3.40 GPA refer to cumulative high school GPA from 9-11th, just for 10th and 11 grades, and does that include (+) and (-) grades (i.e B+ vs B ).
For the UC’s, the GPA of 3.4 requirement is the capped weighted UC GPA which equals the capped weighted Cal State GPA. UC’s do not use +/- for their GPA calculation and only use 10-11th grades for the a-g courses taken. I caution you that meeting the minimum 3.4 GPA will not be competitive to get into the majority of UC’s.
UC’s do consider 3 GPA’s: unweighted UC GPA, capped weighted UC GPA (maximum 8 honors points) and Fully weighted UC GPA (unlimited honors points).
