I am currently a junior and live in Maryland. On the Penn State application it asks for a first choice and second choice campus. My first choice is University Park and my second choice is Erie. If I am not accepted to UP will I get into Erie?
SAT: 1550/2400 (Will be taking again in May)
GPA: 3.6
Rank: 64/314
Concert Band: 7 years
Marching Band: 3 years
Clubs: Interact 2 years, and Yearbook club 1 year

If you're not accepted into UP you def will get into Erie.

You have a shot at UP, especially if you have a hook like URM or full-pay OOS. But if you are trying for Smeal or Engineering with those stats, your "hook" won't matter, and you're chances for UP are probably nil.

But if a branch campus is okay with you as a place to spend your first two years, don't sweat it. I'd be shocked if you weren't admitted to Erie.

I don't think you would have gotten into Univ Park this year, even for DUS/summer. Every year is different though. This year it seemed like it was easier to get into the second tier privates than PSU-UP, as long as you didn't need financial aid. But you never know until you apply, and don't expect an answer until the end of January haha!
