Out of State hopeful chance thread

I think I applied to the hardest major possible, and now I'm extremely worried that I won't be admitted, especially considering I'm out-of-state. Any commentary from all of you would be well appreciated.

Second: Talked about how I lost weight in track, and how I kept going to practices despite my failings. I thought it was really great.

Additional: Discussed how I picked up programming as a hobby and that's why I want to major in it

Note that these are just summaries. As I said, any input would be amazing.

Please? Anyone?

You are definitely a strong candidate (36 ACT!). The average GPA for accepted engineers in Fall 2013 was 4.5, and you are just barely under the average. They like a lot of AP courses, so well done on that your junior year. It is impressive that you have done so well in Physics too.

Out of 3178 engineering students enrolled Fall 2013 at Cal, 1274 were EECS (next highest was ME 613).

They only have a 9.7% engineering acceptance rate, which means that applicants with stats as good as yours get turned down every year. There is no sure thing, but your application is highly competitive.

Thank You so much!

The UCs now love OOS candidates because you represent money. Time was it was harder to get in as an OOS applicant. Now it is precisely the opposite.

Yea I read about that. Honestly, whatever floats their boat. College is essentially a business anyways
