Could NOT possibly agree with you more. It’s not so much the argument about the preference for OOS students, since there are already so few, but the fact that they receive letters months before us. I received my acceptance to Stony Brook and am grateful for it. I applied to Bing & Stony at the same time, and received my sbu accept a week ago. Look at Bing, still processing GOD knows what without any notification really. Even though its one of my top choices SOM, they should at least notify IS and OOS students at the same time. They obviously have to review IS apps alongside OOS apps because of its sheer number, so they HAVE to be finished with a bundle by now. Why not practice the “rolling admissions” that they so clearly state on their site?

@ Special circumstances. LOL. You’re auto special if your OOS or athlete, big iffy huh?

I was accepted (I live in NJ), but I have several friends who were not accepted just yet. I’m not sure what sort of new admissions system they’re implementing, I just know that the way they are not releasing people’s admission decisions yet is not right.

Probably a dumb questions but here goes anyway–
Since student decisions re: matriculation aren’t due until the spring, how will earlier OOS acceptance letters even help them know who is actually attending? Are there some kids who will reply pretty much upon acceptance?

In our family, as in many, it may well come down to a finance-based decision, and kids won’t be able to compare until they’ve received all their acceptances anyway.

That’s a great question. I would also like to know if Binghamton is a first choice school for those already accepted or a safety. As an instater, it’s my first choice.

Please note that it is generally harder to transfer between colleges at Binghamton after your acceptance, especially for the School of Management and the Decker School of Nursing.

When you wish to transfer from one college to another, the number of slots that are open is entirely dependent upon how many students actually leave that college prior to graduation. Since SOM and DSN are highly-ranked, few students leave after matriculation.
