Out-of-State Questions

Ok first of all question about financial aid/scholarship money:
I will be an out-of-state student (Texas) from an upper-middle class family, SAT 2020, GPA 4.0, rank 115 out of 750 (although I think this has improved) from a good public high school. I will have taken 6 AP classes by the time I graduate. I have been a varsity cheerleader for two years and I have worked as a gymnastics coach throughout high school, as well as being involved in a couple of clubs. I plan to major in nursing. Any chance at some decent financial aid?

Secondly, is this school worth coming to as an out of state student?

Binghamton doesn’t really do scholarships, especially for freshmen. Yes, it’s worth coming to, but you should know that it’s much better known on the east coast.

It is worth going as OOS:

[Best Values in Public Colleges, 2011-12](<a href=“Best College Values, 2019 | Kiplinger”>Best College Values, 2019 | Kiplinger)=ALL&id=none&sortby=out_rank&sortorder=ASC#colleges

2 baby!

Binghamton is a great school, and even for out of state, it is cheaper than most colleges. However, I would suggest that you should keep your options open and also consider other schools as well.

There are no scholarships for freshmen, but if you qualify for federal financial aid you can get that. You will not be eligible for NYS resident based aid such as TAP, which other freshmen from NY could receive. But, it is a great value for OOS and the students I’ve met who are not from NY (including one from TX) are very happy here.
