I'm an American Citizen and I'm studying outside US. However, my mother works in Georgia and is a resident and that also makes me a resident. Georgia Tech accepted me, but also classified me as an Out-of-state Resident. So does that make me a resident or considered out-of-state?

Well depends on how old you are. If you are above certain age, you are not considered dependent to your parents and probably have to pay out of tuition if you didn’t live in Georgia for 5 years.

Are you dependent on your parents on tax return form? You should just call financial aid office and find out.

Talk to the registrar’s office about your status. It’s tricky. GT may have classified you accidentally the wrong thing.
