Out of State Scholarships

At a recent college fair, we were told that with a 26 ACT and above 3.0 would qualify my S for in-state tuition. Can’t find any confirmatory info on their website. Can anyone provide any details?

You might qualify, but you wouldn’t be guaranteed. Your student needs to earn a University of Houston competitive scholarship worth at least $1,000. In that case the university will also offer your student in-state tuition. This is a Texas law…

But many out of state students are catching on to this and going for those scholarships, making them more competitive.

I would call the school and ask how difficult it is to get a $1,000 scholarship from them.

Last year my S was awarded a $4,000/yr scholarship plus in-state tuition making UH extremely affordable. He ended up choosing a different school.

Good luck!
