I know standardized tests are a big factor and that I’m lacking in both community services and GPA, but how are my chances as an out-of-state applicant? haha, and I also acknowledge that cycling isn’t a hyped sport in the US, more appealing to European countries.

Looking at UCD, UCLA, and UCB specifically. Thanks for helping me out!

Re-post after receiving your test scores. In the meantime click on the link below and then click on “Custom Tables”:

Cycling is greatly revered here in Davis. There are all types of bikes everywhere, enjoyed by all ages. There are special street lights and paths dedicated to the safety of cyclists. And yes, there are hardcore types who ride about in their bike tight/uniform thingies, rain or shine. UCD has a nationally ranked biking team (I think). Sad, really, that I can’t say for sure that we have an awesome team (too busy with academics). I would say boost your GPA and if your SATs aren’t so great now take them again. If the SATs are high then focus really hard on your grades. I know I am a little vague (I apologize). I know that UCB and UCLA are harder UCs to get into and I don’t know if they have cycling teams. I know that at least UCD looks for talented competitive cyclists.

UCD does have a good team! best out of all the UC’s.

^ah, there you are then. The best of the UCs. Lots of places to ride your bike on campus but I wouldn’t recommend biking near the CoHo. . .I’ve seen two guys get biking tickets for riding their bikes on that patio-like area :0

It looks pretty good for you. Once you get your scores back, you can review where you stand. how do you think you did on the tests?
Chance me back?

My opinions have no substance, that’s why I’m on this site. I don’t have the experience and knowledge to chance someone. However, knowing that we’re both OOS’s, the acceptance rate for us is 3%… or something ridiculously small like that.

I feel pretty good about them. I have plenty of time to retake if I want to.

The cycling team is great. National title last year: [UC Davis Campus Recreation - Cycling Championship](http://campusrecreation.ucdavis.edu/cms/internal.aspx?uid=a6bb7ea2-3c8b-4168-8f5d-ee6d4638d6b2)
Davis itself provides great opportunities for cyclists. The only negative is flat flat flat roads for about twenty miles in any direction. The good news is that Napa Valley to the west and Auburn to the east provide incredible longer rides with killer hills. I’m a 2nd year member of the Triathlon Team and can give you more specifics about Davis cycling if you’d like.

As for admissions, don’t expect cycling to help you any more than any other sport or extracurricular. It’s a club sport so don’t expect the team to have any say in your application. However, that level of commitment and your accomplishments will definitely give you an edge.
