Hi..I would greatly appreciate if anyone can answer my questions...
I'm an out of state student (Connecticut) that is going to attend Umich in the Fall, does anyone think it is better to buy room/school supplies in Michigan or ship them from Connecticut? If i ship them from Ct about a week before fall semester is there a place to store the items in the residence halls?

There is no place to store things in the dorms prior to move in as I understand it...I think it might just be easier to take a trip to target or meijer during move in.

There is Meijer Madness [if you'd never heard of Meijer before you got to Michigan, like the case was for me, it's basically akin to Walmart] during Welcome Week which has frequent buses there and is a good opportunity to get supplies. One thing to bring before you get to U-M is a fan though, as there was a major lack of A/C in my dorm.

Heh, there's a major lack of A/C in all the dorms. Tip 1: get a fan, a good one. Tip 2: if you're not going to be in your room for the day and your window faces the sun, get some tinfoil and cover the window with it, shiny side out.

You could also have your stuff shipped to Ann Arbor from the stores themselves (ex.: Bed, Bath, and Beyond). :)

Thanks everyone! I'm excited/nervous about the move from Connecticut, I hope it is not that hard.
