Out of state students

On a more personal and less statistical note, I’m in-state, but I have a lot of friends (including my roommate) who are OOS. There are quite a few Virginians who come in knowing a lot of people from high school, but in the first few weeks of school most everyone is looking to make new friends. I’ve actually seen more in-state students who have had trouble adjusting than out-of-state.

It may seem intimidating to come in knowing nobody or just a few people, but as long as you are open to meeting new people and joining clubs or organizations where you can meet people with similar interests, it hardly matters where you’re from.
