out of state students

I have heard that it is really competitive to get into William and Mary from out of state. How difficult is it really? My stats are...
i have approximately a 3.4 gpa at a fairly difficult high school. My weighted is 4.9. I am taking 4 ap classes next year, and have 3 already done. I take honors, science, english, used to take math, and spanish. I am a caucasian female. My act score was a 31. My sat scores were 690 math, 640 verbal, and 610 writing. I am thinking of only sending my act.
My extracurriculars/activities/other stuff include...
track and field 4yrs
cross country 4 yrs
summer running 2 yrs
polar bear(track training) 2 yrs
one summer job at clothing store
outdoor adventure camping, rafting, hiking, etc in bc, canada same summer
high school honor society
camp counselor at day camp one summer
I took some accelerated math test, i think it was called amat
if i think of more i will add them...
I took sat II's but they did not turn out very stellar. I took biology against my teachers advisory, and got 580, which i obviously will not send. I took math and got 690 which isn't that great either. I took a practice one for math out of a prep book and got 775. Is it worth retaking?
Haha, I know thats a lot but thanks for reading.
Thanks!

It is very difficult to get in from OOS. As a Caucasian female, out of everybody applying, it will be the most difficult for you to get in. What state are you from? It is even harder to get in if you are from a Mid-Atlantic state, as opposed to the Midwest, South, or West.

IMO, the VA state schools are always more challenging to get into when you're OOS. In regard to W&M, it's a smaller college, so it's even difficult for instate students. Many well qualified ISS did not get accepted this year. But in admissions, you just never know. Take the ACT again and see if you could bring up that score. W&M offered interviews last summer to rising hs seniors. Check the website. That could be worth going to, if they're doing that again, if you're really interested in the school. Good luck!

Will you be recruited as an athlete? If so, that will help you. W&M looks closely at the difficulty of the courses you have chosen to take in high school, and I have heard that you pretty much need to have taken calculus. I agree with you that you should send your ACT and not the SATs.

This information is 2 years old. Our OOS daughter (NY) applied with a 1430/ 31/ and 3 SAT11's over 700. Top 5% of class over 500. Multi-year commitment to about 4 activities plus a job. All AP's/honors classes. No signignificant awards. Was waitlisted but ultimately admitted. Most kids who apply have similar profiles. It is crucial that you demonstrate your interest and passion for the school. This can happen through visits, e-mails, but most importantly your application/essays. Of course, applying early decision would be the icing on the cake but not many are ready to take that chance.

If you want to continue running, W&M has a good track program. OOS and female, you need something else in which to stand out for admissions.

How about out of state transfers? Does anybody know how many transfers were accepted of how many applicants, and how many of those were OOS?
