Out-of-State Students

So let's suppose on the off chance I do get accepted to UW, when could I claim in-state tution (I'm from Ohio)? I have seen the requirements online for claiming in-state, but are there any loop holes or is it really that strict?

Although I know California is different, here’s my guess (basing this off of UC residency requirements):

1) Your parents can’t claim you as a dependent on their taxes (and if they are, then they must be residents of the State of Washington)
2) You have to have lived in the State for a year and before the the next academic term.
3) You need a driver’s license or whatever to prove your residence.
