Out of State students?

S is thinking of applying OOS to Kent State. Any information on Kent State would be welcome. Are there a lot of OOS students? How is the school spirit? What about academics and class sizes? Do you know if there is transportation provided to airports for major breaks (Akron or Cleveland). Any information would be great!!

Twenty-one people looked at this post, but no one replied? Anybody willing to jump in and give me the information I'm looking for??!!

Look at the Kent website. The Division 1 Athletics lead me to believe that there is some school spirit. Kent is not known for academics and you can expect a moderate class size with some basic lower level courses being packed with freshman. Even small schools have a bus system I would be willing to guess that Kent does as well. Transportation to the airports; I don't know. That would be a question to ask the school. Give them a ring, they won't mind. Hope this helps; It's mostly general stuff.

If you are looking at Kent, then I urge you to visit The university of Akron while you are down there. It's literally twenty minutes down the road from Kent. With a brand new football stadium in '09, a brand new student union and student recreation center, it's definetly worth a look. I'm a student @ UA so obviously I'm a little biased. Not to mention Kent's our arch rival.

And as far as student life...if your S or D is a serious student like most of the other CC students then they should look at Akron's brand new honors dorms. They're really nice. And there's also brand new dorms right next to the new football stadium, so that's something else to look at.

And if if they are a big sports fan, then our student fan group, the AK-Rowdies are HUGE. They've grown over 100% in total numbers from '07 to '08. It's at over one thousand members now and is expected to grow again with the increase in on campus students that will come with the new dorms. We go on weekend road trips all the time. Just this year a few hundred of us went to Columbus and watched our Men's soccer team(#2 in the country) beat the Ohio State.

But hey, I'll let you decide...I heard Kent's golf team was pretty good....

My son is strongly considering engineering at University of Akron. Any current opinions on the engineering school or the campus life?
