I just applied as an out-of-state transfer student from California for the fall quarter of 2008 at OSU. I’m trying to gauge how competitive it is to get accepted into OSU, so hopefully some people here could help me out. I have a 3.7 GPA, and will complete 60 semester units by the end of this spring at a California community college. The courses I’ve taken satisfy most UC campus pre-requisites for an Economics major, since I originally only applied to UC campuses. I applied under the Risk management & Insurance concentration under the business administration major, if that helps you decide my chances.

You're in.
I was just recently accepted with a slightly worse GPA.
Also, you get accepted into the University, and then you transfer into Fisher Business.

I'm from Texas. They took about two weeks to make a decision on my application. I found out that I got accepted online, and then about a week later I got a one page letter of acceptance. Two days later I got another letter with my transfer info. 80 hours transfered. I'm not sure what that means, because for Texas colleges, I only have 53. Whatever. Probably going to UT anyways.

You're the best, crs1909. Two weeks for a decision!?! You're getting me really anxious here.

Ohio State has been one of my dream schools as a kid (used to live there, and all of my family lives there). I never thought of applying until now because I was tied down by some girl.

NormalGuy, where else did you apply besides Ohio St. and Indiana?

That's it. I know seems strange. I didn't want to go anywhere lower ranked and I guess I just didn't feel like I could get in anywhere better or afford it. Why?

For me, it was a little less than two weeks once they were "reviewing" or whatever term they used to say that they were looking at my transcripts.

If I were you, I seriously wouldn't worry too much, you're going to get in.

One unusual thing about Ohio St. is that in a week's span after I was accepted, they sent me three envelopes on three different days. The first day's letter was my letter of acceptance. Then the next two involved transfer info, credits, etc... Ohio St. gets to the admitted students in a very timely fashion, perhaps a little too timely. I'd rather get one big envelope with all my info, than three separate envelopes, but that's just me.
