Please don't flame. So lately I've been enthralled by the idea of going to cal and living in Berkeley, the city and atmosphere sound amazing. So I want to apply as a junior transfer.

I have 6 summer hours at a CC with a 3.5 (1A 1B) and a 3.8 with 42 hours. Sat is low: 1610, but I'll probably retake it in Jan. My ecs are pretty awesome with lots of volunteer lobbying at state capitol, public speaker for inner city students, teaching debate to inner city students, film making, photography, yada yada yada.

Do I have a chance at UCB? Also I am really low income so I only have 1k in actual funds. So am I **** out of luck?

Also I'm a latino male if that helps.

1.) You don’t need SAT to transfer. SAT scores are only for incoming freshmans
2.) What is your overall GPA? For Berkeley, also depending on your major, its is your GPA and your essay.

Cumulatively including the 6 cc hours and the 40 uni hours, its around a 3.8. Also I have 9 hours of ap credit as well. I’m a natural writer so that isn’t my worry. The only thing I need to know about Cal is finances. I know it’s a public so fin aid is tough. Not to mention I don’t qualify for in state aid either. Also side note, with the pell grant I’ll have 6k for a year lol.

Berkeley is pretty much my dream school though and I’m planning to study philosophy.

Dude, your out of luck. Estimated cost for out of state students is around 50,000 dollars a year , the only way you can afford it is with massive loans. Now before I even say this there are gonna be a couple people were gonna tell you that I’m wrong , that is worth it to go 100 150,000 dollars in debt and that plus 0 6.8 percent interest compounding every year. Try california for grad school because then you’ll be able to get a good fellowship, maybe.

Thanks for your response. That’s what I though.

Try this: [Financial Aid Estimator - UC Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships Office](<a href=“Financial Aid Estimator - UC Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships Office”>http://calculator.berkeley.edu/)

But the results probably won’t be pretty if you are out of state.
