Is it hard for an out of state transfer with a 3.15 overall gpa, and a 3.25 major gpa. i want to go to either UCLA, UCSB, UCI, or UCR for mathematics. i am a tutor currently for my school. I will have completed about 86 semester credits before the fall of 2012, but i dont think all 86 will transfer and i am willing to go there for 2 years.

You might get into UCR. The rest you should forget about.

UCLA requires a 3.2 for transfers so I wouldn’t even bother applying there. All UCs give CA Community College Junior level students priority in the admissions process. UCI waitlisted a ridiculous number of students this year (in which I would say a good majority were CCC students) and both them and UCSB had to extend the admissions deadline because they received more applications than they were prepared for (which would result in a more competitive pool of applicants for a set amount of room). Personally, I had around a 3.6 GPA AND priority at UCI with all pre-reqs and general education classes completed and I was waitlisted. I don’t really know anyone with under about a 3.5ish that was accepted unless they had TAG (a written agreement with the school that they will be accepted from a CCC provided they fulfill certain guidelines and maintain a 3.0). I’m not trying to shut you down or anything, but you should really look at the transfer guidelines for each of these schools, but realistically I don’t think you have much of a shot at anywhere except maybe UCR :/

alright thats cool. i no this may be the wrong place to ask, but what about SDSU?

yeah that is going to be really tough to get in. I’m actually an OOS transfer who just got accepted to UCLA, but I have a 3.9 gpa. i know i got a pamphlet that said out of the kids accepted, only 2% of the students were OOS students, so i considered myself lucky to get in.
